About Karen
Karen has shared a passion for food since a young girl. She made pies and savories with her Southern grandmother at a local pharmacy soda fountain and shared time in the kitchen with her other German grandmother.
Karen received her formal culinary training at Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts in Los Angeles (Pasadena), California, located a few short blocks from Julia Child’s childhood home. Karen has worked as a catering chef at various wineries and private events in Southern California.
Having relocated from Southern California to the Kansas area, Karen brings with her the fresh style of California Cuisine through the use of local ingredients, along with cuisine learned from her French culinary training and from her travels throughout France, Germany, Belgium, The Netherlands, Mexico, and Egypt.
Put simply, Karen loves good food as much as you do. She loves a great dinner party. Karen loves keeping up with the current food trends, offering those to her clients and customers, and sharing those ideas with those who wish to learn.
Karen can be found both at her home in Lawrence and in her gardens and bee aviary on an 80-acre farm in Oskaloosa. See what she is up to by clicking Blog on the above menu bar.
